Job Description
Program Summary
DLR Prerna Broadleaf partners with children and families in the Eastern Himalaya to develop innovative school-based health programs that improve educational outcomes and maximize well-being. We believe that a holistic, community-based approach to improving health can unlock human potential and create opportunities for every child to thrive.
As a member of our team you will contribute in TeaLeaF (Teacher Leading Frontline):
TeaLeaf expands access to mental health care for children which is a crucial global health challenge including in the Darjeeling Himalaya. According to WHO ten to twenty percent of all children suffer from a mental health challenge. These conditions adversely impact children’s emotional wellbeing throughout life. Innovative care models are urgently needed to support these children.
In TeaLeaf, we are conducting a participatory research study to assess the effectiveness of training classroom teachers to deliver evidence-based psychological care in 60+ low cost private schools in rural Darjeeling. In the year 2022 to 2025 we propose to scale-up alternative and combined models of education and mental health care that leverage existing human resources to improve the lives of children with mental health struggles.
DLR Prerna and Broadleaf Health and Education Alliance implements the programs in Darjeeling in collaboration with University of Colorado Center for Global Health and University of North Carolina.
