Job Description


The Project Assistant will be a key member of our team, providing essential support in both project management tasks and driving. This dual-role requires safe and reliable driving services and active participation in project activities.

What You Need for This Job


  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and experience driving in the Darjeeling area.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • High school education is a must. A college degree or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn on issues such as mental health, preventative health, menstural health, zero waste, agrofrostery, etc the organization addresses at a community level 
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in dynamic environments.
  • Fluency in spoken Nepali. Proficiency in written and spoken English is highly valued
General Position Summary
Driving:
Safely transport team members, and materials to various locations throughout Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts.

Maintain the vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition, including regular checks and servicing.

Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring the safety of all passengers.

Project Assistance:
Assist in implementing Tealeaf project activities, including coordinating school visits, distributing materials, and collecting data.

Engage with school and community members, including samaj, principals, teachers, and parents, to promote project engagement.

Actively promote the importance of child mental health in the community.

Program Summary

As a team member, you will contribute to Tealeaf, which expands access to mental health care for children. We are studying the effectiveness of training teachers in low-cost private schools to provide mental health care.

Proposed Salary

We believe that a holistic, community-based approach to improving health can unlock human potential and create opportunities for every child to thrive.

As a member of our team you will contribute in TeaLeaF (Teacher Leading Frontline):

TeaLeaf expands access to mental health care for children which is a crucial global health challenge including in the Darjeeling Himalaya. According to WHO ten to twenty percent of all children suffer from a mental health challenge. These conditions adversely impact children’s emotional wellbeing throughout life. Innovative care models are urgently needed to support these children.

In TeaLeaf, we are conducting a participatory research study to assess the effectiveness of training classroom teachers to deliver evidence-based psychological care in 60 low cost private schools in rural Darjeeling. Going forward, we propose to scale-up alternative and combined models of education and mental health care that leverage existing human resources to improve the lives of children with mental health struggles.

DLR Prerna and Broadleaf Health and Education Alliance implements the programs in Darjeeling in collaboration with University of Colorado Center for Global Health and University of North Carolina.

What we are looking for?
We are seeking a talented and skilled professional to join our dynamic team. We envision this as a long-term relationship and are particularly interested in early-career professionals with the desire to learn and grow with us. This position is open specifically to individuals with prior education and/or experience in clinical psychology, counseling, psychosocial care, or similar.

We are especially interested in candidates who will use this position to lead efforts to expand access to mental healthcare for youth in the Darjeeling Himalayas.

Qualifications
BA or equivalent is required. Advanced degree Psychology, Child Psychology, Public Health or other Health related fields, or other relevant fields are preferred.

Prior experience or training in clinical psychology.

Demonstrated maturity and judgment

Ability to work independently and take initiative. Must be a quick learner, able to multi-task, and self-manage

Desire to grow and develop as a professional

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Fluency in spoken and written Nepali highly valued.

General Position Summary

The Clinical Project Officer coordinates implementation of intervention activities in our partner schools and communities.

You will directly participate in facilitation of training for partnering teachers and supervision of clinical activities with the teachers and caregivers.

You will directly participate in collection of qualitative data, administration of quantitative data measures, data entry, informed consenting, administering data instruments and coordinating translation/transcription
